Some may call it the senior slide; it's the last few months you have left before graduating from high school. It seems like a blessing, no more college applications, teachers become a little more lenient, and you're pretty much done with it all. But don't just leave it at that, don't just be done.
This year will be a combination of many "lasts", from high school sports, your last family vacation, your last birthday at home, your last day of classes, and even your last day in your hometown. Embrace these "lasts," take your brother for ice cream, spend a little more time with your mother, and give your dad some extra hugs. Hang out with your friends and make sure to take plenty of pictures. Your college dorm, or gap year of travels, will feel a little bit empty without these people surrounding you every day.
Thank your teachers, your guidance counselor, college placement counselor, anyone who helped you make it to this milestone in your life. Twelve years of school is not easy, you couldn't have made it this far alone. These people invested hours and days of their lives to make sure you succeed. Give them the gratitude they deserve.
Stop stressing, no application outcomes are in your control. Just relax, focus on yourself. You've worked so hard on your grades, essays, and applications first semester, enjoy this last little bit to be with your friends and family making memories. Soon you will be moving out and moving on with your life, you are going to miss what you have now when it's gone.
Sincerely,
A College Freshman
