Dear Sasha: An Open Letter To My Favorite Puppy In The Whole Wide World
Marissa Martinez

Dear Sasha,

You have been the best puppy I have ever had, and I've gone through a handful. My whole life, pets have never really worked out in my family. I was either allergic to them or my sister was, or they wouldn't potty train or tons of other different things. The list really goes on... But YOU, you have been so amazing.

Since the night we got you, I knew that you were going to be my lifelong puppy. It was a 45-minute drive to McKinney to pick you up, and the car broke down, like, five times, but it was all worth it. You were so little, I was afraid to even touch you! You fit right in the palm of my hands. I held you, and then Marissa (Marissa is my girlfriend and Sasha's other mom). It was just so perfect, really.

Ever since that night, you've been by my side. When I was sad and depressed, you were there to lick my face off. When I was happy, you were also there to lick my face off! But I loved it and I still love it. I love all your kisses.

To be honest, I really feel like you have saved my life. In the year and change that you've been mine, I've been through so much. I mean, you already know, because you were there. I really don't know if I would have survived it without you. When I thought that nothing could ever get better, all I had to do was look at your adorable black face with your pink tongue and I knew everything would be okay. There were so many times when I thought I had no friends and no family, but you always reminded me that I had the best thing in the world! The love and loyalty of a sweet, adorable puppy.

I will forever be so thankful that you're here in my life, Sash. I promise to always scratch your tummy, to always do your hair, to always give you treats and teach you new tricks. And even that won't be enough to show you how much I love and appreciate you.

Sincerely,

Your mom, Alexis.

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? I mean I went through four years of tough classes and serious self-searching (and crying). What I found overall was Senioritis sneaking up on me.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
