You are truly and wickedly beautiful. Coming from California, I didn’t know what to expect from my very first Pullman winter last year. To be honest, it was brutal. I thought that I was living in Antarctica and not Pullman, Washington. But now, as the grass and trees are starting to frost, snow is falling down, winter is definitely coming, and I’m a bit nervous.
At first, the snow is exciting and beautiful. But then you’d have to walk out and still attend class even though it was a complete blizzard outside. The way the cold completely takes away all the feeling in your nose and hands is a feeling I never want to remember. Not to mention if it's cold enough, how your entire body goes numb.
I truly love playing the game of whether the puddle on the sidewalk is just water or a deadly trap where I will slip and fall to my death. Unfortunately, Washington State University is insanely hilly (why we all have cougar calves), so this makes for a risky walk to class when you have no clue if the steep hill you are about to walk down is just wet or icy.
Pullman winter, thank you for the incredibly freezing fog that just spontaneously appears on my way home from class. It definitely makes me feel like I’m in a horror movie. But, thanks to you, my hair is always looking nice. Who needs hairspray when your hair is frozen in place?
Thank you for making my life truly difficult, there's nothing like running late but your entire car is covered in ice. This is quite the struggle because not only are you trying to rush and scrape the ice off but you are also freezing your butt off while doing it.
I guess the best thing about you is the excuse that I need to eat just a little bit more to get that extra layer of warmth. Definitely, catch me eating two cookies at lunch instead of one because you know, I gotta stay warm.
Ultimately, Pullman winter, you're the prettiest thing I have ever seen, but you are also my biggest fear.
