Dear Pierce the Veil,

Jaime, Vic, Tony, and Mike, it's nice to be writing to you! Hope you all are well! You've recently just finished your first tour after releasing your new album "Misadventures." From the pictures it looks like you had a blast. I hope you did. You played every single song off the new album. There was no way I was missing out on that one. I went to the very last show in LA at The Mayan. This was my sixth time seeing you. The feeling of excitement and awe never goes away. From the moment the lights turn off and I see you come on stage, there is a huge smile plastered on my face. Anyway, my mind was blown! I loved watching you do your thing. Your shows have always amazed me. You really outdid yourselves on this tour. Your songs were great and your production left me speechless. Whoever makes those great interludes you play before your songs has got me wanting a live album.

Misadventures has been more than any album I could have hoped for coming from you. I found so much of how I felt and myself in the lyrics. The many different twists and turns and surprises make it what it is. You can tell how much time and effort went into making this album. I hope you are proud of what you have created. You have made something that showcases what you went through during this time period in your life and no one can make the same thing as you. You are so unique and your songs tell your story.

You recently talked about it in interviews and spoke about how making this album a lot of wrong turns and unexpected delays. You didn't have an explanation as to why things happened that way. You created something good out of whatever bad happened. You didn't let any misadventures hinder your journey to making this new album. This fascinates me because I can relate to that very deeply. You didn't let some bad things ruin your good time. You worked through it and made sure that you came out of it.

Life is a big adventure for me and part of my adventure is a little tough but the other parts are really good. Much like your album, my adventure has taken me to some crazy turns and crazy places. Finding a piece of yourself within something someone else has written is a great feeling. You did just that for me and I can't say thank you enough for how much it means to me.

I have loved going from being a freshmen in high school that listened to "Collide with the Sky" to a sophomore in college who listens to "Misadventures." Your growth has been a testament to my own growth. I have grown up some more with you guys.

Thank you so much for your music, your excitement to do music, and for showcasing your love for your fans always. I speak for myself when I say this, but I'm sure others agree we love you just as much.

Dakota

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
