Dear Mom,

Thank you for always loving me unconditionally and never giving up on me. Thank you for all the late night laughs and serious conversations. Thank you for being there through my first heart break and telling me he wasn't worth my tears. Thank you for letting me grow up in church and have a relationship with Christ. Thank you for showing me how to be a Godly women.

I'm sorry for all the times I never listened to you. I'm sorry for the times I lied to you. I'm sorry for all the times we are at each other's throats.

Thank you for letting me be me. Thank you for all the long road trips when we laugh and sing for four hours at a time before falling asleep. Thank you for listening to all my stupid problems that really aren't that bad. Thank you for always being there no matter what. Thank you for letting a bunch of teenage girls run around the house all summer because we all rode to work together.

Thank you for being my mom. I love you

Dear Dad,

Thank you for being my own personal super hero. Thank you for loving me and protecting me. Thank you for always being there when I feel like no one else is. Thank you for understanding me and helping me when I'm at my lowest. Thank you for helping me through school and pushing me too do my best.

I'm sorry for all the times I lied to you. I'm sorry for every time I didn't listen. I'm sorry for all the fights and all my attitudes.

Thank you for all the goofy faces and silly laughs. Thank you for making up your own words to songs on the radio to make car rides fun. Thank you for letting me be me. Thank you for supporting me and helping me grow into the woman I am today. Thank you for taking me fishing at midnight and then going to Waffle House at 2 in the morning. Thank you for teaching me to drive ( even though I still can't back up that great). Thank you for taking me hunting and letting me help clean the animal afterwards. Thank you for teaching me how to love everyone whether they are rich or poor, black or white, male or female.

Thank you for being my dad. I love you and I miss you so much.

Thank you both so much for being the best parents anyone could have. I love you both more than life itself and I couldn't imagine this world without either of you. Thank you for loving me and giving me the best little sister and brother in the world. Thank you for moving us around so we could meet our lifelong best friends. Thank you for moving us back so we could be with our old friends and family. Thank you for everything you do. I promise it doesn't go unnoticed and it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for being my parents

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
