Dear Northern Virginia Community College (or NOVA as us kids like to call it),
Thank you for welcoming me with your open arms and making a little more space for a girl still trying to find herself in this confusing world of transferring from one school to the next.
I came from The University of Mary Washington to further my education in Criminal Justice. You have given me some of the necessary tools I need to shape my future the way I see fit. Don't get me wrong, Mary Wash gave me some of the best memories that I'll have as a young adult and experiences that made me who I am at this very moment. You have provided me with a greater sense of independence. One would think that living in a dorm on campus would be the highest form of independence a young adult could receive, but to me, it is just the opposite. Attending a college closer to home allows me to drive various places and keep up with a job that provides me with a small but suitable income.
I love the warm atmosphere you provide to us students and how everything seems more personable than at a larger university. Almost every professor I currently have talks to me on a one on one, and about more than the class, but about my plans after college. Although Mary Washington provided me with great academic opportunity, it did not provide me with personable professors, which is something I value greatly in the education system.
In conclusion, I would love to thank you for giving me, someone who is only calling your institution home for a short amount of time, a place I can learn and better myself.
Sincerely,
A girl trying to find herself
