Dear, Netflix. Be Better.

What we aren't gonna do is teach girls that eating disorders are the answer. For a whole other season.

So, I am an avid watcher of Netflix, probably like many of you reading this article. However, there is something I still see being intensely promoted when I log into my Netflix account.

The show is called "Insatiable" a show that takes viewers through the transformation of a girl nicknamed "Fatty Patty" who becomes a pageant queen after having her mouth wired shut for the course of an entire summer.

When she comes back to school, she becomes the center of attention with her dramatic weight loss. This weight loss began through starvation, an issue that many young girls and women struggle with on a day to day basis.

They struggle with anorexia, binge eating, and other eating disorders. However, you have chosen to renew the show for a second season.

I am disappointed in you.

I am disappointed that you promote such amazing shows as "Atypical" which presents a high school senior dealing with autism in his daily life, Dear White People which brings to light race issues that happen daily on college campuses, and movies like "Sierra Burgess is a Loser" which shows a girl struggling with her appearance and beauty at the same equivalent that you promote "Insatiable".

This show doesn't deserve the respect that all of the other shows have. It doesn't benefit anyone that struggles with life or health issues, it teaches them that if they're skinnier than their lives will be better.

As someone who's struggled with her weight from a young and has been able to lose weight and still maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes eating full meals, I see no point in this show.

It is comparable to the triangle schemes of weight loss companies. It teaches girls and young women that not eating is the correct way to become skinny.

It teaches girls and women that we are only liked if we meet the social media standard of beauty and that we need to take the quickest way out.

As a woman who champions other women, I urge you to be better.

I urge you to promote shows that are beneficial and relatable. What good is it going to do to watch a girl become a snob after dropping weight by not eating?

What good does it do to teach women that this is the way to find love and be desirable? It doesn't do good at any level. It destroys any ideas that we as a society have worked to promote throughout the course of time.

We preach self-love and self-care, yet shows like this still get air time. Explain that to me. Explain this thinking. Explain how you are proud to promote the ideas that come from this show?

Show support to men and women. Do not promote eating disorders.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
