Dear High School,

I am not even going to lie, you were pretty great. I have never loved and hated a place as much as I loved and hated you. For four years you were my world, you were my entire graduate class' world. We showed up at your door five days a week and came back constantly for practices, meetings, and games.

I made friends that will last a lifetime during high school, I also lost a few I hoped would be there forever. That was the beauty of high school, we grew up. We walked through the doors freshman year with people and outfits that only lasted a couple of months. I had some of my best moments throughout my high school experience.

People keep saying that high school is the best four years of your life and in those years high school was. It was the place that I cried my eyes out one day and laughed so hard my stomach cramped up the next. They had fights and relationship break-ups that in the moment was the hottest topic of the day. Looking back now high school you were wonderful and amazing even though I complained every day about you.

I am the person I am today because of high school, I grew up throughout the four years. I figured out who some of my real friends were and that just because one guy doesn't like you doesn't mean no one ever will. I learned how truly cruel girls could be and I learned a lot about myself there.

So high school it was one hell of a ride. It was four years that were absolutely amazing. I am so blessed to have made the friends I made and experienced the things I experienced because high school is over. A lot of the time I don't even miss you and you are who I was and now I am becoming who I meant to be. So high school is over and honestly I am not sad because the best years of my life are only just beginning.

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
