Dear Mother Nature,
We know that you have a mind of your own. Sometimes you are nice to us and sometimes you go a little crazy. But we know you have a heart especially during the holiday season. On behalf of all people, “We are dreaming of a white Christmas.” It is a simple request, but this small act will put smiles on the faces of every boy and girl in the world.
Every year around Christmas time we wish for the same thing. We put spoons under our pillows, wear our pajamas inside out, and flush ice cubes down the toilet all so we have a snow day. Every kid's dream is to have a white Christmas. To wake up on Christmas morning with gifts to open under the Christmas tree and white snow covering the tress outside is a beautiful thing. If you could solidify our dream it would mean so much to all of us.
I wish on Christmas morning, to look out my window and see snowflakes covering everything. Seeing a white blanket of snow and ice crystals hanging from the frozen trees is magical. It would be the ultimate Christmas present! After opening presents we get to play in the snow, make snowmen and snow angels; go sledding with our families and have snow ball fights. Isn’t that what the winter is all about? It’s about spending time and having fun with our families. Snow has the ability to bring together friends and family even more than the holidays do. Parents, teenagers and children all love the snow. The smell of freshly laid snow, hearing the crackle of snowflakes when you step, and see it sparkle in the sun affects all our senses. Snow is the only thing that costs no amount of money but can make a single person smile and turn their day into a worthwhile one.
After playing in the snow we will come inside our house and warm up. We would drink hot chocolate with little marshmallows by the toasty fireplace listening to our favorite Christmas music. We laugh, scream, giggle and sometimes cry all because of the joy snow brings to us. There are so many fun things to do in the snow. You can build a snowman, make a fort, have a snowball fight, go sledding, make snow angels, and just jump around and lay there thinking of what a beautiful creation Mother Nature gave us. I know sometimes we complain about all the snow everywhere. But it’s because those days are not Christmas. Christmas is different than those days, it’s about wishing, loving and coming together. And that is what snow gives us.
So what I am basically asking you is, please give us snow on Christmas day. It will make people smile, children’s wishes to come true and families unite. A snow day and Christmas go hand in hand, just think of the song, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.”
Thank you,
Snow day wishers
