Dear Montana,
I'm sorry it has come to this, but your bipolar weather patterns as of late have me reconsidering where you stand in my life. Let's be real here, it's not you, it's me. First off, I need you to bear in mind my habits when it comes to keeping warm. I love you and all of your beauty, but why do you have to be so cold? This is something that I can't seem to get over, regardless of how many times I have tried. It has caused quite a strain on my affections for you.
Fall began September 22, and by October 10 there was white fluffy stuff falling from the sky. Did you forget about fall? Miss a season? The leaves are still falling yet you're sending snow.
Have you forgotten about all the white girls who are still obsessing over their pumpkin spice lattes? It feels like we should be holding a white peppermint mocha instead. It's not even red cup season, and the weather is acting like it is.
How will you feel when the snow melts and the leaves are stuck to the ground with mold? Do you know that this will happen if you let the snow fall before we have the chance to clean up the leaves? Come on Montana, please give us a chance to keep your beauty alive!
I love the snow and the outdoor activities that come with the winter season, but why are you trying to breeze in a month early? October is meant for Halloween and beautiful colors. Please leave the snow to December and beyond.
What about carving pumpkins? What about the kids that will be trick-or-treating in a few weeks. Have you considered how they will feel if they are walking on slick sidewalks? What if they fall? How would it feel to be responsible for little kids crying?
Even those who have lived in the state forever, instantly forget how to drive once there is a few inches of snow on the ground. Again, think of the children! Of course, they want to play outside with sleds and snowmen, but not if they're lives are shortsighted by a disastrous halloween of bad drivers!
Montana, let's think about this, snow tends to put people in the Christmas mood. It's so nice to be able to cuddle up by the fireplace and listen to Christmas music. I love putting up my Christmas tree and dancing around in my pj's while the snow is falling. But, really, that even allowed before we see Santa's sleigh downtown New York during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? Not to mention, if the snow lingers too long, people just end up being miserable and cursing the sky and the ground the walk on.
Montana, I truly love you, but I believe this is best for both of us.
Sincerely,
Concerned Resident
