Dear Mom, I Will Always Need You

Dear Mom, I Will Always Need You

Dear Mom,

I know sometimes we may not agree on everything, but you have and always will be my best friend, greatest mentor, and the woman I strive to be like. You and I have always been stuck together like glue, no matter what life has thrown at us. Through my breakdowns in college, upsetting relationships, lost friends -- you are always there.

I just wanted to let you know that no matter where I end up in life and how far apart we might live, I will always need you. I will always need my mom. A day will not pass by that I forget to think to myself how blessed I am to have a mom like you.

No matter how old I get I will always need you. I will always need to call you when I have a bad day or when I need to tell you something amazing. I will always need you to my plans and dreams because I will always want you to know about them. I am always going to have those days when I need to borrow your ear. Whether I talk about life, love, or anything else - I know you will always listen.

I will always need you by my side because you are truly my best friend. I will always need you to tell me your honest opinion about things because I know you are wise. I will always need you to tell me to take risks when I am too afraid. I will even need you to tell me to slow down at times. I need you because you always have my best intentions at heart.

No matter how much time passes, I will need you. You will always be my go-to person. My best road trip buddy. The best adventurer to experience life with. I will always need you because you and I are truly inseparable. If I call you in the middle of the night at 2 a.m., I know you will answer the phone. I will still need you when I forget how many ounces are in a cup or how to cook chicken and dumplings.

I will always need you because every time I am with you, I learn things. I learn thing like it is okay to be angry, but you have to find the good in the situation. I have learned that not everyone is going to like you, but that doesn't mean you have the right to treat them poorly. I have learned that it is okay to be rejected by people or jobs in life because someone or something better will come along. I have learned that the best thing you can do with your life is to be kind and reach for the stars.

As I get older I will never ever stop needing my mom and I say it proudly. Even if I have a family of my own someday, I will need you. I will never be too old to need you in my life. Thank you for being my person for all of these years and for the future years to come. I love you to the moon and back.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
