Dear Mom ...
Robert Beirne

Dear Mom,

How do I begin to thank you for everything that you have done for not only Francis and I but our whole family? I don't even know. I know you would do everything to help us if we needed anything.

You are there for us when life throws challenges our way and we don't know how to face them. You taught us to be responsible in more ways than one. You taught us the importance of many things in life, like how work should always be the best that it can be and the quality of friends over the quantity of friends.

You have taught me three things in life that I will never forget: your friends and family will always always have your back, the importance of it doesn't matter as long as you get back up, and that if you feel yourself losing any part of you, there is always one thing that will guide you no matter what and that is your faith.

In class I was recently asked to describe my mother in one word as well as one phrase; the word I chose was fearless and phrase was won't stand down. I chose fearless because you embody that word. I chose the phrase don't stand down because you don’t stand down from a challenge no matter how difficult it might be.

Thank you for everything you have taught me in life. You are such an inspiration and role model of how to live your life to me.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for teaching Francis and I different life lessons on this race or journey called life. We will carry these said lessons throughout the race and carry them to the finish line.

I love you.

Robert

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Barn Pros

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.
