Dear Mom And Dad

Please don't worry 'cause I'm alright.

Dear Mom And Dad
Michaela Weaver

Hey parental figures that I call mom and dad, this is for you!

When it comes to trying to thank you guys seriously no words come to my mind. Not because there is nothing to thank you for but because there is so much to say and literally not enough words. I may not be playing in a bar tonight, instead I'm in working in a library, but when it comes to ya'll the song "Babygirl" is the only thing that comes to mind.

"Dear mom and dad please send money" -- I have no idea how many times I have texted you with these seven famous words, "I'm hungry and I have no money." It's not like I have a meal plan or anything right? But listen, cafeteria food here isn't exactly home cooking or well, Panera... Also, "I'm so broke that it ain't funny."

"It's a long way from here, to the place where the home fires burn" -- It may not be 2,000 miles but it is one left turn, maybe two... Being four hours away can be tough, but I'm thankful I have you guys back home to support me and take excellent care of my horse. I would be lying if I said I never missed the small town environment and seeing a tractor or combine at least once a week on the road. That sort of thing just doesn't happen up here.

"Big town full of little white lies, everybody's your friend you can never be sure." -- Um mom and dad, the people here aren't always nice. Thanks for raising me in a kind, caring, teaching community. While being away I have learned that everyone lies and people will try to manipulate you. I like to think I can stand up for myself because of you guys.

"Girl, you'll remember what your knees are for." -- I'm not religious by any means, but occasionally a short talk can calm the stress. Especially when you realize something or someone isn't all they were talked up to be. Thanks for taking me to church when I was younger.

" I know that I'm on my way...and I know it's worth all the dues I pay" -- I know that being away is making me a better person and more independent. This will surely pay off in the long run. I am fully confident that I will make it in this big world because of the way you guys raised me. I am definitely, without a doubt, on my way.

I cannot wait until I am "so rich that it ain't funny." I might be able to repay you for everything you have done for my sister and I, never the less, I'll definitely try.

"And there are fancy cars and diamond rings, but you know that they don't mean a thing well they all add up to nothin' compared to you, I still love you more than anything in the world" -- This kind of speaks for itself.. you can "remember me in ribbons and curls" if you want, it's probably a cuter version of me anyway.

"Love, your babygirl" -- I am the baby, and I am a girl... so...

On a side note, thanks for not keeping me inside a bubble, you'd be surprised how many people don't know how to make change or know that an ATM charges if it isn't your home bank... *insert eyeroll here*

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
