Miami. The city of the bottomless cafecitos, endless party, and home of the worst drivers of the country. It could be partly true that everyone is driving with a different set of rules, given the high influx of immigrants from all around the world. Yet somethings seem to only happen in the 305.
The rain is not an emergency.
The rain does not mean the end of the world. First there is not need to turn on the emergency lights, not only is misleading but also illegal. It rains almost every week during non-hurricane season and everyday during the summer. I can tell there is water coming from the sky. Also, I understand you want to be careful becuase the road is slippery but I think you can drive faster than 10 miles per hour. On the other hand, there is not need to be a completely douche and drive like you own the road. Just remember everyone wants to get home as faster as you.
Turn off your high beams.
Turing on your high beams so I can drive faster, it does not help. Actually it does the contrary, it makes me partly blind, hence making me drive slower becuase I do not see the road or the other cars to switch lines. Also, just it becuase the sun is not longer in the sky, it means is the time to use your headlights. You should use your high beams when you have low visibility or when you are in the rular areas. But if you are in the Palmetto and have your high beams, you should reconsider all the life decisions you have made so far.
The Invention of Turning Signal
First, I want to let everyone know that I am currently majoring in Mass Communications and I am only required to take 2 science class. Having this in mind, I have no idea about scientific discoveries, but I want every Miami Driver know that there is switch behind your steering wheel that allows you to notify others if you are thinking of changing lines or turning. While you might think is not want others in your business, this could allow time to other drives to prepare given your future decisions. Believe me, this is an amazing invention by engineers and technicians. I hope you find in your own car and decide to use it from now on.
DO NOT TEXT AND DIRVE
Okay, I understand if you were using your phone at a light. We are all have done that and probably gotten beep at because we did not see the light changing. However the picture changes when you are texting and driving. I do not care how many likes your new Facebook post got. I care about my life, and I want to get to my final destination in one piece. So please put your phone down and wait until you are in a complete stop to check Juanita's new snap.
YIELD
According to driversed.com, yield is define as "let other road users go first." In other words, be nice and please please please let others go in front of you. This could be in when you driving on the highway and there are lines merging, or when there are pedestrians crossing the street in their designated areas. Also do not block the entrance or exits for malls while you are waiting for the light to change. If you leave enough room for other cars to go in and out, you can help reduce traffic, and we all know there is plenty of it already.
