Dear me,

You have come a long way from where you started. I am proud of you.

You currently are sitting at a crossroad. You feel stuck. You want things to change and you know you must wait. Be patient! I know how you aren’t patient.

Things will get better. Don’t think that they won’t. Stick to your gut. Listen to all the advice that you get. I know you are struggling. You don’t think things are working. Things take time. Again, be patient. Be patient. I will probably be saying this a million times more because you are not patient, but it’s okay.

Fall in love. You know what I mean. Don’t be afraid. I know at this point you are freaking out. You are trying to calm yourself down but it’s weird. This is different from everything else you have ever had in your life. He’s sweet, nice and do I have to go on about how well he treats you? You are happy. You still get butterflies like you just met him for the first time. I know you do. Don’t deny it. Open up and let go. Continue to listen to those cheesy love songs that I know you constantly blast. He is great and you know how he feels even if he doesn’t tell you. Trust him.

Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. I know you are wanting sometimes to give up, but it is okay. Everyone must fall at least once.

Life is weird and crazy, but remember that Facebook post that you loved, “Your mental health is a priority. Your happiness is a priority. Your self-care is a priority. Your existence is a priority.” Remember that quote when you are struggling the most. Remember how loved you are. Oh gosh, don’t ever forget that. I know it has been hard with your mental health lately. You are strong. The strongest I have ever I seen you. I am so proud that you have decided to get help and stand up for what you need.

I’m proud of you. I am proud of the hard decisions that you have made in the last couple of months. Actually, I am proud of all the decisions you have made in the last couple of months. Some weren’t easy, but you did it. Look where you are now? You are slowly getting yourself together.

The scars are a reminder that you are a fighter. Your life is going to change for the better. Just remember that as a reason to keep fighting. You will be able to start over and forget about the past. It will be something great and amazing. Don’t give up because the same people keep bringing you down. You are better than them. You have a great support system full of people who love and support you no matter what.

Always love yourself. You are beautiful. You get told that by a special person every day. Believe what he says. He never lies to you. Take that to heart.

I hope you read this when you need it the most. I want you to remember on your worst day that it is going to get better. The sun always comes out.

I know this a lot to read, but hopefully, it comes in handy at some point.

Love always,

Kyrsten

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
