An Open Letter To High School Me

Dear high school me,

There is so much that you don't know yet. There are so many people who haven't blessed your life yet, and there is so much you have yet to experience. The person you are, the person you think you are, still has so much growing to do.

You'll have the hard times. The first days at college, the tough relationships, and the semester you spend abroad will shape you into a person who will be able to get through even worse days. You don't know about the bad days or the tears, but you'll get through them.

You think that you've experienced the happiest of times that you can possibly imagine, but you haven't been on stage at high school graduation, you haven't met your best friends at college and you haven't seen the other side of the ocean yet.

You're worrying about boys and crushes, but you don't yet know about the love and happiness that will come from a certain boy you will meet the first day on campus. Be patient, and wait for him, this boy who will turn your world upside down in the best possible way.

College will be the best days. You will meet so many amazing people, people who will change your life and you'll wonder how you've been living without them for the past 18 years.

You'll miss Mom and Dad when you move out, and the months that go by without seeing your brother will make you sad, so hold on to the times that you have now, living with them. You'll miss being in a comfortable place every day, so cherish the moments you spend in school.

You are young, but you are strong. You will be okay, even when it doesn't feel like it. Believe it or not, you don't have it all figured out.

Life is happy, sad, and everything in between. Embrace the waves.

All the best,

Me

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
