Dear Maywood Christian Camp,
Thank you. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the Bible knowledge and friendships you have given me over the past 11 years. As we get further and further away from the summer, I start to miss you just a little bit more every day. I miss the Bible classes, “cabin talk”, Evangelistic hours, sports, ballfield devotionals, and friendships. I especially miss being able to look up and see thousands and thousands of stars every night. I miss getting to spend quality bonding time with my brothers and sisters. Maywood isn’t about what happens at Maywood, but rather how we use what we learn at Maywood to change the world for the Lord.
In my Life of Christ class here at FHU, I have already used so much information I have learned at Maywood. 7th week for the past 3 years we have been memorizing the Sermon on the Mount. My memory work for the entire semester is bits and pieces of the Sermon on the Mount. For some reason I specifically remember learning this at Maywood, but the other day Brother Dan asked us, “What is a parable?” and I said, “An earthly story with heavenly meaning.”
A couple of years ago, I decided to go the very first session of the summer. I knew a total of 3 people at the entire camp. I was not nervous though because I just had a feeling that something beautiful was going to come out of it. That is the week that the Henderson area goes, and I made SO many friends that are my BEST friends now that I am in school with here at FHU. Through Maywood, God gave me some of the best friends that I have been praying for for SO long.
1st week isn’t the only week represented here at FHU; there are so many people from all sessions here, and nothing makes me more proud that walking in Gano or in Chapel and seeing people PROUDLY wearing Maywood T-shirts.
Maywood means so much to me and has impacted my life and molded me into the person I am today. So thank you, Maywood Christian Camp. Thank you to the founders who created this special place. Thank you to those who currently serve on the board, admin, counselors, directors, and workers. Maywood truly would not be what it is if it wasn’t for every single person putting all hands on deck to make it Heaven on earth.
In Christian Love,
Bailie, Maywood’s number 1 fan
