Dear Matoaca

Matoaca, Virginia. A small hole-in-the-wall county located between Chesterfield, Chester, Colonial Heights, and Dinwiddie. If you aren't from around the Richmond area, I doubt you'll even know where Matoaca is.

Here are 8 signs you lived in Matoaca and/or went to Matoaca High.


1. The sunrises on the way to school were to die for.


2. You pretty much grew up there your entire life.


3. There are farms. Everywhere.


4. Dale who?


5. Cookout was the ultimate after-school hangout. It helped that it was only 10 minutes away.


6. Fights happened on the reg.


7. You more than likely lived in the Highlands or Woodland Pond.


Overall, like most hometowns, Matoaca holds a special place in my heart. When I visit, no matter how much time has passed, it still feels like home.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
