I’m going to have to be brutally honest here. Maryland MTA, you are a disappointment. I dread whenever I have to use any of your services. What I take the most is the train and it is the such a stressful commute to and from work. It used to be a convenience. I used to be happy that I was able to get to the city without having to drive my car down there. I liked how it was a relatively short train. I used to like the price.
But now everything has changed. And it only keeps going downhill.
The train is supposed to come every seven minutes, and during my commute to work, I’ll give it to you that most of the time that isn’t too bad. But the commute coming home to work…..why am I waiting 20 minutes for a train? And then why is that train packed to its fullest capacity? Now me and alllllllllllll the other people on the platform have to squeeze into an already full train. I forgot to mention the fact that it’s a good thing I don’t have any appointments I have to get to, because I would be late all the time. My 25 minute commute becomes like a 50-60 minute commute. Pitiful.
For some weeks now, MTA has been promoting this new Baltimore Link which is supposed to be “linking you with better connections.” I’m not sure about all of that. It was in effect on June 18 and to my understanding, this effects the busses. All of their routes changed, but the drivers were supposed to be practicing these new routes. I don’t know who’s at fault here, I just know that people at my job were saying how the busses were late, and how it made them late for work. I heard stories from other people about how they were two hours late for work. That’s just unacceptable.
So I don’t know what has to be done, or who has to do it, but the MTA needs to be improved. Stop with all of the constant delays without any type of announcement. If you know you’re going to be single tracking, then announce it before it actually happens. Commit to being prompt and on time. And please believe that it’s not just me. I’m not the only person who feels this way. Maryland MTA, you need to do better.
