Dear Lord,
We've become a world full of hurt and violence. We turn to hateful words and harmful actions to solve what we see as our issues. We've forgotten how to focus on the good in situations, in people, and even in life. We are a world in need.
We are in need of strength.
Give us strength to make it day by day through the challenges we are faced. Give us the strength we need to influence and help others in all the ways they need it. Give us the strength to see beyond the flaws of this world and to look for the beauty in it instead. Help us to be strong in our faith even when it is doubted, so that we may never fear too much or find hope too little.
We are in need of compassion.
Give us compassion to feel for others, even though we don't always see that they deserve it. Help us to understand that no matter what someone has done unto us, we are in no place to do it to them. Assist us to be compassionate in everything we do, no matter who we are faced up against, in order to show them the love you have so kindly shown us.
We are in need of guidance.
Give us guidance. As a world, we are unbelievingly too often mislead. We are lost and cannot find the light to follow at the end of the tunnel. We turn to violence, hurt, and anger because we can't seem to tell which way is up or down. Guide us, Lord, to be the faithful carriers of your word that we were always meant to be. Give us guidance through our daily and weekly troubles so that we can always know how to make it better. Give us guidance as a world to steer us away from hurting one another and turning to hate as the answer for everything that goes wrong. Give us guidance so that we can know how to make the lives of others and our own as beautiful as you had intended.
We are in need of comfort.
In a time of constant grief and despair, give us comfort. Help us know that it will all be alright. Remind us from day to day that within your love, we receive eternal greatness. Give us comfort to help us see the light in all of this nasty darkness. Let us know always that you are with us and to have you by our side, is comfort within itself.
We are in need of love.
Within your word and your faith, we recieve eternal and everlasting love. However, we need love. We need personal love that comes from within us, overflowing in hopes to every day give it to someone new. As a world, we are consumed with hate, overcome by it. So give us love. Love to show our neighbors, our friends, our enemies, and even strangers. We have been running off hate and how easily accessible it is for far too long now. Give us the ability to give more love than hate, show more love than hate, and to feel more love than hate.
