Dear Little Brother,
We argue, we tease each other and we call each other names. We often drive each other (and mom) crazy. But that’s what siblings are for, right?
Our six-year age difference, combined with the fact that we live 400 miles away from each other for most of the year, may make it difficult for us to get along at times. At the end of the day, though, there are a few things I want you to know.
I want you to know that you’re the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Our parents have given me so much, but nothing compares to giving me a best friend for life. I consider myself lucky to have grown up with you. Although you may not realize it, you’ve made me a better person. Thank you.
I want you to know that I’m here for you. Whether you need my help or you just want to talk, I’m here. You can call me at any hour of the day and I’ll drop everything to be there for you, just as I know you would do for me. I hope you feel comfortable talking to me about anything, and that you know I’m always ready to listen.
I want you to know that I believe in you. Sometimes you’re so hard on yourself, but I hope you know that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. I can’t wait to see all that you will accomplish. No matter what you do in your life, I will be your number one fan.
I want you to know that I’m proud of you. Regardless of what grades are on your report card or how many hits you had in your last baseball game, I will always be cheering you on. I’m proud to call you my brother.
I want you to know that I love you. If there’s one thing I want you to remember, this is it. You’re so special to me, and I am truly lucky to have you in my life.
Thank you for always making me laugh, for supporting me and for being my lifelong best friend. My life is better because you’re in it.
