Dear Grandpa & Grandma

I really miss you

Dear Grandpa & Grandma
Momma Betz

It seems like yesterday that this photo was taken at my sister's track meet. Grandpa, it hasn't quite been 9 months since I last saw you, but I hope that I still make you proud. I'm onto my second year of college in Fort Wayne, majoring in radiologic technology. I miss you so much. Until then, I'll see you soon Grandpa.

Grandpa and Grandpa,

I want to extend out a very special thank you to the both of you. A thank you for both being such a hard workers to make our family farm what it is today. I miss you both every day. I wish that we could have just one more conversation together. Thank you for all of the memories that both gave us grandkids at your farm house. Thank you for allowing us to pick pears and apples from your trees (even though we were the best at picking the ripe ones). Thank you for always allowing my siblings and I to spend those endless days at your house while my dad worked out in the fields.

Grandma, it's been over 10 years since I last saw you, but every time that I smell peppermint tea, or see any cardinals outside my window, I think of you. Whenever I chew Wrigley's Double Mint gum, I think of you. Whenever I smell peanut butter cookies freshly come out of the oven, I think of you, Those 9 years of my life with you in them, I will never forget. I love you.

Granpa, thank you for all of the endless laughs and endless conversations about how all of us children were "corkers". I miss all of those times too. Thank you for putting up with my sisters and I going gymnastics in your living room, I know that both you and Grandma got so nervous when us girls would do that stuff. Thank you for raising my dad in a way that makes me look up to him for being a great man. Thank you for all of the meals that you and Grandma prepared for my siblings and I. Also thank you for the countless cookies that you and Grandma made too. Those were my favorite.

It's exciting to know that one day we will all be reunited with you two. Until then, I will forever cherish our memories with you both. I hope that I continue to make you both proud, I love you.

Grandma and Grandpa, I'll see you both soon.

Your grand-daughter,

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
