I think most girls have this stigma attached to them that says you know nothing about sports unless you play them. Well, we all know that is far from true. And while this article can be applied to any sport, this girl is definitely a football girl.
"Do you play?"
Heck no! Not because I am scared or because I am lazy. It's more because the floor tends to be my friend quite often. I swear I trip over something or nothing at least once a day. I can cheer, I can dance, and I can hold children. But really, I would play for fun in a heartbeat. I would also make a small public service announcement that I can't be trusted to stay on my own two feet, so watch out.
STOP QUIZZING ME
Just because I watch football does not mean I know everything about it and every player on the field. I am not dumb; I know the basics, but I can't tell you every little detail. Nor can I tell you all the players on every team. However, I know the big players and where they are from. I can tell you that Peyton Manning ended his career with the Broncos and a Super Bowl win. I can tell you that Cam Newton plays for the Panthers, and Tony Romo plays for the Cowboys. I can tell you about Tom Brady and how he got in trouble with the Patriots for deflating balls. But most of all, I can tell you about the team I know the best: the one I root for myself. Yes, I know what a pass interference is and what a two-point conversion is. Yes, I know that a touchdown is 6 points and an extra point kicked is worth one. But stop laughing when I can't tell you all the little details of the sport that I don't play.
Professional Vs. College
I can honestly say that if you ask me which I like better, I will always tell you professional. What I can't really give you is a why. I watch college on Saturdays and professional on Sundays and Mondays and sometimes Thursdays. I think I can appreciate professional more because I don't go to the school I am rooting for. However, I like both, and I will watch both when given the opportunity.
I BLEED SCARLET AND GREY
I love Ohio State. I will root for Ohio State no matter who they play. I've got all the gear, including Ohio State Buckeyes shoes. They are the college team that I stand behind. In my house, we script Ohio, we scream OH and IO, we know that a buckeye is more than just a nut, we know which fan is the big nut, we do the shoe, we do championships, we do one not done, and we do cheer for the Buckeyes. At least half of my house does--the other half roots for the blue and yellow team up north. But we don't hold that against them...most of the time.
WHO DEY!!!
I think I say that phrase numerous times a day during football season. I bleed orange and black. Game day in the Jungle is the best day. I believe in the team with a ginger quarterback with the name Dalton and the number 14 on the back. I stand by the team that puts our back up quarterback McCaron in when Dalton gets hurt...Andy please don't get hurt again. I stand by the team from Cincinnati, Ohio who has the best fan base in the NFL. I am a Bengals fan, and I sure will let you know.
Whether I'm yelling "Who dey say gonna beat them Bengals" or "OH-IO", I will definitely be supporting my favorite teams this fall.
