News Flash: It really is NOT all about you.
Here are a few things you need to understand:
1. No One Owes You Anything.
I don't know who told you that the world owes you anything, but it is not true. You have to work for everything you want just like the rest of the population. Things are not going to be handed to you just because you exist.
2. Participation Trophies Are Not A Thing.
You either won or you didn't. There are going to be winners and losers in every aspect of life. When you do not get the job you want, they do not give you a ribbon for trying. When you do not go to class and do not turn in your work, you do not get an A in the class. Therefore, when you play a game and you do not win, you should not receive a participation trophy. This does not mean you get to throw a tempter tantrum. It means you get to step back and look at what you did that resulted in you not receiving what you wanted and change it.
3. Not Everyone is Going to Respect You.
Respect is earned and not given. Just because you think you are "all that and a bag of chips" does not mean everyone is going to give you respect. You also have to give respect to earn it. Therefore, you need to respect those around you if you want them to respect you in return. If someone does not respect you, you cannot force someone to.
4. You Can Be Told No.
Just because you want something does not mean you are going to get it. If you do not get what you want, or someone tells you no, suck it up. Work harder. Get more experience. Whatever the case may be, it is perfectly okay to be told no.
With everything going on with the election, I am embarrassed to be categorized with "Generation Me"/ "Millennials". Canceling class, postponing exams, and having counselors on site for people who are upset with the election is ridiculous. There is no reason for any of this. Let God take control.
Sincerely,
An annoyed college student.
