Dear Future Me

A letter to college graduate me

Dear future me,

Hey, what's up? How's it hanging? You good?

Right now, I'm a freshman attending Florida International University and if you're reading this, that means you've probably graduated since this was intended to graduate me. Maybe, you didn't even finish college and you're reading this to laugh at younger you thinking that I would ever graduate. But we both know that finishing college is a must because then mom would not be happy with us not graduating and angry mom is a scary thing to deal with, haha.

So, you graduated, that's a big deal. Just thinking about graduating in four years or maybe less or maybe more, is just crazy already, but here you are. Did you decide to stick with majoring in nursing or somehow took the chance to major in journalism? Or did you listen to the psychic and major in law or business?

Even if you didn't major in journalism or even communications, I hope you still stuck with writing because it's always been your creative and expressive outlet. Hopefully, you're still into photography as well, but I don't think that's going away anytime soon, right?

Did you even graduate from FIU? I know you don't like to settle in one place for too long but you also really love Miami right now so who knows where you are right now. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me that I graduated from a school in Denmark honestly.

Are you with anyone? I know you've always been the independent type but I mean if you somehow snagged Zayn Malik or James Bay then in that case, go you. I also hope you've gotten to become less of a handful case because you're a wild child.

I really deeply hope you're still close friends with the friends you made freshmen year and your high school best friends. They're keepers for sure.

Did you ever sneak in a hedgehog in the dorms at all? I keep thinking about it but will I ever actually impulsively buy a hedgehog and sneak one in? Or did I move off-campus with my freshmen year roommates and buy like 3 dogs, a goat, and a hedgehog?

Please tell me I did.

Am I still vegan? Right now, I can't imagine eating meat again or dairy but I mean who knows what can happen in four years right?

I really hope that you learned more Spanish within the past four years because right now, "shoes" and "salty" aren't getting me very far right now.

Did you ever get the chance to cross off some of your bucket list items? Visit all seven continents? Create a wall mural? Learn a foreign language? Have your photographs hung in a museum? Be in a film or even create a short film? Skydive? Bungee jump? Write a song? Write a published book?

But most importantly, I hope you're happy with where you are now. Right now, I have a lot of questions about my future but we always end up just fine, no matter how rough the road ahead may seem. I know you're surrounded by good people that only have good intentions with you because those people are the types of people you and I vibe with. Hopefully, you have a good career path coming up soon and if that road seems bumpy, just know that freshmen you believes in you and that your family and friends are there to help you throughout the process.

And, you better have at least two dogs by now or else I'm going to be very disappointed.

Sincerely,

Rhiannon O'Donohoe

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

16 Secrets Anthropology Majors Never Admit To

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

CSU

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
