7 Things A College Senior Wishes She Could Tell Her Freshman Self

As I am approaching my last few months as a young, dumb, broke, college student, there are a few things I learned along the way that I wish I knew as a freshman.

1. Your Roommates Don't Have To Be Your Besties

Matter of fact, it's probably better you don't! Save the hassle and the fighting. If you need distance, don't feel guilty about it.

2. Not Everyone Is Going To Like You, And That's Okay

This isn't high school where you grow up around the same people since Kindergarten. Give yourself some slack with trying to seek approval from strangers. Don't feel insecure if you don't click with someone right away. Just be who you were born to be and don't be sorry about it! YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR.

3. Don't Try So Hard To Fit In.

Tbh girl, what's even fitting in anyways?! Let's face it, you are a little fish at one of the largest universities in the nation. You don't need the newest pair of Tory Burch flip flops or a Louis Vuitton coin purse for your keys. You are worth more than just materialistic things. I promise.

4. Don't Search So Hard For Men.

Weird one, I know. But true. Don't let every boy you find interest in into your heart so easily. You'll thank yourself later for this one. Protect your heart and emotions at all costs. Put your faith in Jesus and trust He will provide because I can promise you, the guy you met at the bar or on Instagram most likely will let you down.

5. Take Care Of Yourself.

Physically and Mentally! The 3 am trips to McDonald's and a bottle of pink Moscato every week WILL catch up to you sooner than you think. Stay disciplined and focus on the bigger picture. Also, take the time to meditate. Whether it's reading, playing an instrument, yoga, a mani/pedi, or working out, find something that will keep you grounded in a lifestyle full of party and chaos.

6. Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Don't even think about stressing out over the smallest things. Yes, this means registering for classes or what to wear. Money comes and goes. That group project will eventually end. I promise it all works out.

7. Enjoy The Ride.

Take it all in. Be present. After all, these are the good old days.

It's finally flu season! It's around that time in the school year where everyone on campus is getting sick, especially if they live in the dorms. It's hard to take care of yourself while being sick at school, but here are some coping mechanisms to get you on the path to feeling better!

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
