Dear Donald Trump,

Coming from a very liberal democrat, I hope that you do succeed as president.

Dear Donald Trump,
slate

There has been a lot on my mind since the election, and I felt as if I wanted to address my political opinions publically. His inauguration is so soon, and this liberal democrat has a lot to say.

Dear Donald Trump,

I may not be a republican, or agree with the decisions you make as president, but I will trust your judgement. You will be president, and be trained on matters I will never comprehend. You are in charge of my country, and I hope that you take good care of it. I love this country, which is why I am hoping you succeed. I do not hope for your failure, or anything bad happen to you, because I know that if you were to fail, it would be terrible for everyone.

I do hope that when you become president that you keep us millennials in mind. I don’t expect you to make democratic decisions, because that is just unrealistic. However, if you do hope to get reelected, it is the younger generation that matters. Please listen to our wants and our issues, because we need someone to help put our plans into actions. The younger people are this country’s future, and I hope that you don’t forget about that.

Despite me not voting for you, or agreeing with the things you say, I do hope you prove me, and a lot of other people wrong. I hope that you can create more jobs, and help our country the way you plan on it. Because a majority of this country elected you as our leader, I will try and stand behind and understand why they did. I will try to see you the way that they do.

Please don’t get rid of some of our helpful programs, because they have really done us a lot of good. Planned Parenthood should stay funded, because they help many people all over. Please don’t get rid of the Affordable Care Act completely, instead try revising it. It was a great idea, it just wasn’t so well planned out. It did have some amazing qualities about it, like no one was able to get denied due to previous health problems.

There are a lot of things that I have been thinking about since you became president elect, mostly just things that I worry about. I do understand that we have very different political opinions, and that is okay. Republicans put up with eight years of a great president, a president they didn’t respect or trust. I will do my very best to try and trust you, to respect you, and to see your success. Good luck out there, and please take good care of this beautiful country.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Citizen

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
