Since the beginning of his administration, President Trump has had a hard time trying to quell any Russian connections that he has. From the intelligence agencies reporting that Russia meddled in our elections to the connection of a Russian bank to the Trump organization, many people would question whether Trump can definitively say that he has no connections with Russia.

Because of the alleged Russian connections to President Trump, Congress has opened an intelligence investigation into it. At first, all seemed to go well, people that we needed to hear from were coming to Capitol Hill, people like FBI Director James Comey. Everything seemed to go well until we found out some new information earlier this week.

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman Devin Nunes, had meetings with the president, claiming that he had evidence that proved that the Obama administration had FISA warrants for Trump and his associates, which seem to corroborate Trump’s claim that President Obama had in fact placed surveillance on the Trump team. However, and this is a big thing to note, the director of the FBI has said that there was no evidence of targeted wiretapping or any kind of surveillance done on Trump or his associates. Not only has Director Comey said this, but Nunes himself said that it was common surveillance and that Trump and his associates fell into that surveillance at that time. Furthermore, President Obama cannot personally order wiretapping or surveillance on anyone, which is exactly what people have been saying since Trump first said that President Obama wiretapped him. The appalling thing that I don’t understand is why Congressman Nunes decided to go to the White House before telling the Democrats on his committee and even after he briefed his party members who told him to not go forward with the meeting at the White House without telling the Democrats first. And so...

Dear Congressman Nunes,

I have one request for you. Step down. Step down from your chairmanship on the House Intelligence Committee, so that we, your constituents and the American people can get a fair and balanced (yes, I did just quote Fox News, don’t get used to it) investigation into if Russia had any influence on our election. If we want to know the truth about what is happening with our elections, then we must have an unbiased investigation with the investigators being ones who do not show favoritism towards the White House, Russia, or their own parties. If Russia was involved in our election process, then we need to know about it so we can then take the appropriate steps to combat it.

I must admit that you have done some great things for California’s 22nd District, where I am from, but this is where we all draw the line. You were assigned to run a special investigative committee that was supposed to be independent and not swayed by one party or another. In fact, I will honestly say that I am surprised that you were chosen to lead this investigation, as you were part of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of Trump’s Transition Team. If you were being honest with yourself, you would have recused yourself from the investigation. However, you have decided to go after your own goals and ambitions, which honestly does not surprise me, as many Congressional members do the same thing.

So, you have one of two options.

1. Get your head out of the President’s ass and get back to being more independent and running an unbiased investigation.

OR...

2. Step down and let someone else who is not easily swayed by the leader of the free world to do your job and give the American people the truth.

But in all honesty, Congressman Devin Nunes, please make the choice that shows your love of country and love of the American people.

Sincerely,
Your California 22nd District Constituents

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
