A Letter To COVID-19

I know that you have been causing a lot of trouble lately and I was hoping you could tone it down a bit.

Dear Corona Virus (Rona),

I have prepared a list of three things you have done for me the past couple of weeks during the quarantine.

I Picked Up Hobbies

Knowing that I was going to be inside all day, I decided that I take advantage of all the free time I would now have. When I was younger I was into arts and crafts but I stopped in order to play sports. Since sports were canceled because of your appearance, I decided to get back into it. To my surprise, it was pretty good. It has become part of my daily routine. In between my homework and meals I am usually painting and trying to perfect my skills. Additionally, I decided to give knitting a try since I've wanted to do it.

Built Stronger Connections

With quarantine being put in place I have not been able to hang out with my friends or go out and do something fun. Although we haven't been able to hang out, we video chat and text each other as often as possible. One thing I am glad I have gotten out of quarantine was seeing who my true friends were. It is a tough time for everyone and we must be there for each other. Experiencing tough times together and being there for each other is what is going to build these relationships.

Opened My Eyes To The Earth Being Beautiful

The past week I've been getting tired of staying inside and it's made me feel sad. I felt like I was going into a dark place. I decided to try something new with the means to perk myself up, I decided to sit on my balcony and do my homework. The balcony has a view of this beautiful stone fountain and waterfront. Every time I sit outside I get lost in the sound of the water and the view of the glistening water. The water is so soothing and it looks like a liquid diamond. That was something I had never appreciated before, and it's disappointing that it took a pandemic for me to realize it.

Anyways, I know that you have been causing a lot of trouble lately and I was hoping you could tone it down a bit. I know a lot of people who lost loved ones and there's already so much darkness in this world so I hope you could find it in your heart to stop all the pain you're inflicting on people. I also miss my friends and I'd like it if I could have a High School graduation.

Your Quarantined Victim,

Amil Thomas

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
