DEAR CLASS OF 2020,

~You get to choose the ending~

67
DEAR CLASS OF 2020,
These last few weeks have been a whirlwind. As you prepared for the final semester before graduation, you had dreams and plans shattered in a moment. To go on a senior trip. To enjoy the last moments with classmates and teammates. To shoot that last basket or score the most goals on your last home game. To walk across the stage knowing you gave your last semester everything you had. This virus was not a part of that plan and this cancellation is not a vacation. It is a lot of "lasts" that slipped out of your hands. It is time lost with those who you have always seen in class and will not get to say goodbye. You may be anxious your senior season got cancelled never to be rescheduled. Your not sure if you will walk across the stage and get that degree you worked so hard for. It's okay. It's reality and it sucks. But the choice is yours: will you react in FEAR or respond in FAITH? This may be the first time you go deeper spiritually. This may be the first time you reach out to those people on your heart that you passed in the hallway. The chaos reveals your roots. In Jeremiah 17:8it says, "They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

See, the roots were planted before the tree. Where the roots were planted determined where the tree grew. If your roots are in the truth, your tree will grow with peace and love. If your roots are in fear and disbelief, your tree will grow panic and worry. Maybe its time to re-examine your roots.

In this time of uncertainty, here are some tips to my fellow seniors:

-Allow yourself to FEEL. Emotions make you human and confusion is okay.
-Those friendships are NOT canceled, check in with those people online who may need it. Side note: the strongest people you know still need a word of encouragement.
-Do NOT be moved by what you see.
-CARVE out time for other activities: that book that has been sitting on the shelf, pick it up. Pick up your Bible. Write. Color. Exercise at home.
-Take time to BREATHE.
-Continue to FIGHT for your dreams and PRAY for one another.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

The holiday season is full of stress, debt, and forced conversation. While we rush through the month of December, it's important to take a step back and enjoy the moments before they're gone. Most families love to watch Christmas movies, but these beloved films provide more than entertainment. Here are 10 life lessons that I've learned from the holiday classics we watch every year.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.
