Dear Big: Thank You For Everything
Ashten Roy

To my wonderful Big,

First things first: I love you. I have no idea where I would be without you. You complete me.

With that out of the way, I wanted to take a few moments to tell you just how much you mean to me. From the moment I met you I knew that I wanted you to be my Big, it seemed like no one deserved that title more than you. Big/little week was one of the most stressful times of my life. I constantly told myself there was no way someone like you would want a little like me. When reveal actually happened, I was so overcome with joy that I cried–a lot. You have buried me in gifts, love, and support. So for always putting me first, I have some thanks I'd like to give.

Thank you for choosing me.

Out of the many girls in my pledge class, it always shocks me that you picked me (and stayed with me). Running to you at reveal was the happiest I have ever been. I constantly replay this moment because it was, well, perfect.

Thank you for listening to me.

Whether it be my constant complaining or general fears about life, you listen to me. You help me through my problems and are a voice of rational when I'm not thinking straight. When I'm doing something stupid, you are always the one to tell me to chill out. Nothing compares to the advice and comfort you give me.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on.

It's no secret that I get upset a lot. Even when I don't show it, you know something is wrong. No matter what the situation, you always choose my side. Knowing that you have my back in some of my darkest moments helps make things brighter.

Thank you for confiding in me.

The fact that you trust me enough with your secrets means the world to me. Not only do you listen to my problems, you let me listen to yours. Sitting down and talking to you is one of my favorite parts of the day.

Thank you for all the adventures.

Whether it be a wild trip to Walmart, making cookies at 12 a.m, or watching Greasetogether, every moment spent with you goes down in history. I'm thankful you like spending as much time with me as I do with you,and that we never tire of each other.

Thank you for encouraging me to open up.

Without you, I would still be a shy little freshman who stayed in her room all the time. You have helped me leave my comfort zone and constantly encourage me to have fun.

Thank you for being you.

You are perfect, inside and out. It has been an honor to see the things you have already accomplished and to know there is so much more you will accomplish in the future. Better yet, that I get to be there with you for it all.

Big, from the first time I talked to you I knew we were meant to be.You are my best friend, shoulder to cry on, role model, and future bridesmaid. I love you with my entire heart. Thank you for loving me with yours!

Love,

Your favorite (and only) Little

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
