Dear Best Friend

A letter to the friends I left behind when I went to college.

Dear Best Friend,

I'm sorry we didn't go to the same colleges and share the same experiences together like we planned to when we were younger.

I'm sorry we don't keep in touch like we used to. My favorite experiences growing up were talking to you about everything.

However, I also hope that you're having the time of your life in college (or wherever you are in life) like I am.


I hope that you're also getting through all the homework assignments, week and after week exams, and all the all-nighters.

I hope that one day you, me, and our college friends will get together and have a great time because your friends are technically my friends.

So even though I may seem disconnected because of college and whatever else is going on, just know that you still are a big part of my life who I look forward to reconnecting with whenever I get the chance.

Because, when all of this is over and we've become "adults," it'll be us against the world.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
