Dear Best Friend,

I know that you are busy, stressed out, and are struggling to get through all of the academic challenges that you are facing. But, I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me, and how much I appreciate you always being there for me. I do not tell you this often enough, and I wish I would remember to do so more. You are the one who keeps me going and truly gives me the most honest advice I could receive. I may not always want to believe you, but you end up being right in pretty much every case.

I remember meeting you eight years ago in middle school, where we were both friends with a mutual friend. You and I met each other on the first day of sixth grade, where we did not get along particularly well at first. We had never seen one another, and we were thrown into a middle school with kids from so many different elementary schools, so it was a difficult adjustment to make. But, as the year went on, we began to not dislike each other, grew closer and closer and formed a bond that can never be broken.

You are so strong, and are someone who can be caring and sympathetic to others no matter what is going on in your life. There have been times where we were more distant from each other, whether it was due to school, vacations, or solely life being too crazy to keep ourselves grounded. But, even if we have not talked for a week, I can always text or FaceTime you, knowing that you will be there to support me and help me with whatever I am dealing with.

I never thought that I would find a best friend when I was younger. I was always a quiet child, and I did not think I would be able to find a close enough connection to refer to someone else as a best friend. But, throughout middle school, high school, and now college, you and I have formed a relationship that comes one or few times in a lifetime. I know that we are only teenagers, but I have learned so much from you, and have laughed, cried, and smiled more times than I can count because of you.

So, that is all I have to say. I would try to make a collage, but I know you are not a collage fan. I am hoping that you smile by reading this, and that everyone who is reading this finds some aspect to share with a friend, whether it is a best friend or not. You are one of the most important people in the world to me, and I want you to know that I will always be here for you, no matter what. And don’t worry, I was playing “Come on Eileen” while I was writing this.

Love,

Melsy

P.S.- To everyone who is reading this and is like "Why am I not the one mentioned here?", know that I think of all of you this way. From the girl who never forgets to play a sappy love song with me in Usdan to the dude who always knows how to cheer me up, I love all of my best friends in so many ways :) So, thank you all for being you <3

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
