Dear Baby Sister, Thank You

Having a sister is having an eternal friend.

Dear Baby Sister, Thank You
“Sister. She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only child.” -- Barbara Alpert

To my brilliant, bold, benevolent baby sister;

Thank you for being my best friend. You have always been there, supporting me and loving my unconditionally. You are the light in the shadows that helps me find my way home. You have helped me find myself time and time again, and I don't think that's something I can ever repay you for.

Thank you for being the one that taught me that sharing isn't just about sharing toys. It's about sharing memories. It's about sharing laughter and tears. Throughout the last 20 years you and I have built a solid bond over sharing. Those moments we've shared have defined us in ways that I don't think anything else could.

Thank you for being the one I'm terrified to lose. I literally cannot fathom life without you. It is much too painful. I hope that we are the sisters who decide to live 3 houses from one another, eventually, so that we can share as much of our lives together as possible.

Thank you for holding my dress when I pee. Well, you haven't done it yet, but you will be in less than a year. We've been planning on being each other's maid of honor since you could comprehend what I was saying. When I got engaged my first thought outside of my pending marriage was that I was able to officially ask you to be the one by my side as I walk towards my future. Thank you for being there throughout this whole experience. I'm so happy you said yes to playing such an important role in the biggest day of my life.

Thank you for being my baby. I was 3 years old when you were born, and it was like my whole world changed. The love I have for you is hard to describe, but if I were to try to describe it I'd put it at that of a mother...almost. I have no experience with motherhood firsthand, but I imagine that it's something reminiscent of how I feel as your older sister. You're the one I've always been most protective of. You're the one I would do damn near anything for. Your life I would give my own for.

Thank you for telling me like it is instead of what I'd like to hear. I'm human, I make mistakes, and I know that you will always tell me when I'm being inconceivably stupid. You don't let my head grow too big, but you also don't let it shrink to nothingness.

Thank you for loving me. There are days where I have a hard time loving myself, and you're always there to pick me up. You make me laugh when all I want to do is cry. You support me head when it hangs low. You have always given my life incredible meaning. Thank you for that.

You are one of the greatest treasures this universe could have ever given me. You are the most brilliant individual I know. Your vivacious personality is unmatched. You're my best friend.

I love you to infinity and beyond, baby girl.

~ Love, Me.

“That's the best thing about little sisters: They spend so much time wishing they were elder sisters that in the end they're far wiser than the elder ones could ever be.”

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
