Dear Long Distance Best Friend,

You are one of a kind. I have the greatest pleasure and that is being your best friend and seeing how you are totally yourself. You are so strong and beautiful. I am blown away by just you being you. You push me to be a better version of myself over the boarders.

Distance has nothing on us. With you, we beat the odds. To find a friend that you don't get to see all the time but still means the world to you is something not everyone gets the chance to experience. We not only make it work, but we make it look easy (which we both know isn't true in the least). After all best friends know no distance.

You are always there for me. Even if you can't physically be in the room that doesn't mean you aren't there for me through every problem. You always hold the answer, while I might not always follow what your advice, please know I do listen to you.You are there for every triumph and every pitfall. I can't thank you enough for putting your life on hold, wherever you are at the time, just to help me so many miles away from you.

Seeing you is extra-special. Due to the crazy amounts of time we spend apart the time we get to spend together is that much better. I would give anything to see you everyday, but cherishing our time together is a good second option. I seriously get so excited when I think about seeing you and the adventures we have lying ahead of us.

Shoutout to social media for always letting me know what is going on in your life. It makes being away from you a little easier when I can get updates all the time. I mean between talking to you all the time, pictures, and your story I swear we are in the same room at the same time.

My nearby friends also feel like they are your best friend. Mostly because I never stop talking about you, and I show them every picture you post. They think you're pretty darn cool and I can't really argue. This also is vise-versa I totally think I'm best friends with your nearby friends (it's probably because I'm jealous they are actually with you).

I don't worry about losing you. I know that if we have been able to pull this off we can do anything. We can go time without talking, even though we typically don't, I know that if we haven't talked in a few days you're not mad you're just a busy bee. I literally tell you everything still so who cares if we are hours away? I mean I do, but oh well I guess I can't bring you everywhere with me even though I'd like to.

Thank you for counting down until we are together again (even if we don't always know exactly when that will be). It makes the time being far apart go by a little faster.

Thank you for everything I forgot to mention. I'm sorry I couldn't squeeze our ENTIRE friendship into one letter, but then again we are so much more than can be described in just ONE letter.

I love you a little more because you put in the effort to keep this friendship alive no matter if we are in the same room, different states, or different time zones. While I miss you everyday, you are my world.

Love,

Me

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
