Everyone has their down or moody days. I definitely experience my fair share of these days, days where I don't even want to get out of bed. On these days that are very hard to find motivation to do anything, I try very hard to remember the things that can make myself feel better and I make sure to do at least one of them to try to get myself out of a bad mood. I realize that everyone has their own different ways of dealing with bad days, but these are the ways that I find helpful in dealing with mine.
1. Listening to music
Whether I'm sad or angry I have certain songs that help me out. Songs like "Missing You," and "Therapy," by my favorite band, All Time Low, and "Scars To Your Beautiful," by Alessia Cara have proven to be helpful when I needed a good cry to get me through a bad day. Sometimes crying is the only thing that can help and that's completely okay, and these songs have helped me to do so. When I'm angry I like to listen to songs like "Emperor's New Clothes," by Panic! At The Disco, and "Misery Business," by Paramore.
2. Exercising
I might choose to go to the gym, workout in my room, or just take a walk. For some reason, this helps me to clear my head. It might be because I have something other than my emotions to focus my energy on, but exercise definitely helps me on bad days.
3. Netflix marathon
Sometimes staying in bed is my solution. I just need some time to relax and chill out. So, I turn on Netflix and binge a show and spend my day like that. Sometimes closing myself off to the real world for the day and throwing myself into the world of whatever show I'm watching helps me to get over my bad mood.
4. Taking a warm shower
I don't know why, but the shower is where I do some of my best thinking. I find that being in the shower gives me the most actual alone time in which I can think a lot of things through. Taking long showers definitely helps to both relax me and clear my mind of the negative thoughts.
5. Calling my mom
I already call my mom what seems like a million times each day just to talk about nothing. On days when I'm down, I make sure to call my mom and tell her what's going on. She usually either tells me to get over it (only when I actually should just get over it), or she gives me suggestions on solutions to my problems. Sometimes this is the best cure for my bad days.
