Around the time when you are a preteen or teenager is the most common time acne starts to appear on your face. This is also the time where self esteem becomes easily affected. Some even have it through their adult years, and others do not have it until then. Having acne is natural and normal, but when it is on us it is dreadful.

Having that one bad pimple can ruin all of your plans, especially when you have anxiety and the use of makeup won't do. You want to go out, but you fear that people will notice it and think you are unpleasant to look at. We get sucked into ads and purchase all of the products we see in order to fix it, but they do not seem to completely work.

Sometimes you even pop your pimples because you think that will make them go away and be less annoying, but instead they are worse. You form redness and puffiness all around that area, making it more noticeable than before. It haunts you as it forms into a scab, and you fear it ending up as a scar.

Acne may seem like the devil, but really, nobody sees you differently for having it. We all get it, and we do not think much of it. It is hard to tell this to yourself and accept it, but remembering that you are not alone makes it a little better.

Sometimes drinking more water, ingesting less salt, and cleansing your face twice a day can help a lot. It may not take it all away, but it can prevent stress which is also a factor that causes it. You want to touch it? Well that won't help and only make it worse. Seeing a dermatologist is another option especially if nothing seems to work and/or it is really bothering you.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
