Mean girls are an inevitable obstacle all girls will face in their life. Whether it be to the severity of mean shown in the movie Mean Girls or petty elementary school bullying, mean girls have a huge emotional impact on girls' lives.

The real question we all need to ask ourselves is: How will we deal with it? How should girls deal with it?

It is so easy to fight fire with more fire. We could muster up a manipulative plan to ruin their lives, like in the movie Mean Girls. We all know how well that went, right? *Spoiler!* Someone got hit by a bus.

The best way to understand how to deal with mean girls is by looking in the best help book in the world; The Bible. Most people turn to the Bible when in spiritual struggle, a life tragedy, or in need of a caption for their Instagram photo. Only rarely will they turn to the Word when in need of assistance with mean girls. Here is what I have found the Bible to say about having to deal with mean girls.

Do not fret!

Be still before the LORD
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
~Psalm 37:7 NIV

Something that still drives me insane is when girls would do something mean or dishonesty and they would get away for it. Some would get praised for cheating through a class. Some would gain more friends by putting an innocent person down. The Bible tells us not to fret.

Psalm 37 is a chapter devoted to how wicked people will "soon wither" like grass, meaning their works will not last! Do not be envious of their life. Continue to be the good person you are.

Do God's will

For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment
~1 Peter 2:19 NLT

When you are aware of God's will, you know how you should live your life. In regard to this verse, it is not saying God is pleased when you patiently endure mean girl treatment. It is saying when you know his will, and still endure, he is pleased. You do not fight fire with fire because you know it is not a part of God's will.

God's will tells us to be Christ-like in our actions. Treat others as you would want to be treated, love your neighbor as yourself, be slow to anger. Do God's will even when you are faced with the meanest of girls.

Be still and know He is God

He says "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
~Psalm 46:10 NIV

The LORD will fight for you; you need only be still."
~Exodus 14:14 NIV

Take a step back, breathe, and know God has everything under control. He will get you through this.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
