Being women, we understand that everyone is different and that one thing we all have in common is our period. She's called by many names like Aunt Flow, the Red Tide, Shark Week, Surfing the Crimson Wave and finally, my all time favorite, Riding the Cotton Pony.

Another thing we have in common is the fact that our period affects the ways we do things and the drugs we take to control our pain during this time either don't work or have side effects that make us sick and tired.

There are natural remedies to help control period pain.

1. Tens Unit - A transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS).

These are used to send small electrical currents to relieve pain. A company called Livia has made one specifically for cramps.

2. Fresh ginger or powdered ginger tablet.

Ginger has been known to lighten the cycle and help with headache and cramps.

3. Fennel seeds

This licorice flavored treat can help ease cramps.

4. Cabbage

Suppressed right this food can soak up estrogen, provide fiber, and make Aunt Flow leave a little sooner.

5. Exercise

I know with pain so bad no one wants to move but the more you move the better some cramps can go.

6. Bananas

This yellow berry contains b-6 a vitamin that helps counter pain this is easy to grab and eat even if your nauseous .

7. Raspberries

This red wonder can help by reducing the estrogen in your body

8. Castor oil

A big contributor to cramps is constipation get rid of that and your cramps will lessen

9. Avoid animal fat

Animal fats contain arachidonic acid your body turns this into prostaglandins which helps make cramps worsen

10. Chocolate

Quick answer, chocolate helps everyone.

Remember to try all remedies, as every one is different.

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
