We are all reeling from the events that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia this week. With thousands of Neo-Nazis and White Supremacist suddenly appearing across the country and many people discovering that their neighbors and associates are actually evil-minded heathens, it is a scary time for a lot of us. President Trump's response of condemning everyone involved and not prosecuting the Alt-Right marchers has made a lot of people lose faith in the idea that our government will protect us from people who have the same ideology as the people we were at war with in the 1940s. Despite the Nazis literally killing people, they are still protected by the First Amendment apparently and responding with similar violence will only hurt those who are not psychotic. So what do us sane people do then if we somehow encounter one of these creatures? Well, here is a quick guide for what to do if you find yourself in such a situation.

Step 1- Try To Avoid The Situation

You should under no circumstances go looking for a fight with these kinds of people! They have no remorse and next to no sense of morality and will likely harm you just for having the wrong eye color or run you over with a truck for calling them stupid. The best you can do is ignore them and just walk away. If you are in a situation where you are directly attacked or are protesting or some other scenario where you can not walk away, you do have other options.

Step 2- Stand Your Ground

If you can not escape and have been forced to confront the abomination you should stand before them with your head held high. No matter how much they get in your face or try to scare you just show them that you are not afraid of insects. Do NOT argue back against them in a threatening tone. All this will do is give them a reason to become more aggressive. If you do not react the way that they want their short attention spans will cause them to lose interest and usually leave you alone.

Step 3- Do Not Feed Wild Animals

There is a general rule in most places that you should not feed wild animals such as bears, wolves or alligators as feeding them causes them to feel more comfortable around humans, usually resulting in someone being hurt. White Supremacist and Neos are the same way with the exception that their form of food is violence. As long as you do not feed their fire by responding with violence or threatening arguments they will run out of steam and give up. This also prevents you from somehow being blamed as part of the problem despite the fact that you are literally fighting Nazis. All that happens when you try to argue or fight them is screaming fits and studies show that those with less intelligence are typically louder.

Step 4- Truth Is The Only Weapon You Need

I can not stress how important it is that you do not resort to violence. Trust me, all I want to do when I look at these kinds of people is put on an Uncle Sam hat and punch them squarely in the jaw. This is not the solution though! The only weapon that you need when dealing with these things is the truth. The majority of these people are extremely uneducated or have just lived such unfulfilling and dull lives that the only way they can justify existing is by demeaning others based on subjective ideologies like racism and religious hatred. Half the time they do not even understand what they are saying, they just heard it on a KKK podcast and liked how it sounded. When you are confronting these people use intelligence to disprove them and expose them for the bugs that they are.

Step 5- Don't Expect Them To Change

For most of these poor lost souls, they have had their backward views almost literally beaten into them for their whole lives. Do not expect you disproving them to actually make them change or become better people. If anything it will only make them hate even more since they can not stand being wrong. They are just way too sensitive. What matters is that you tried and that you know you are on the right side of History. When the confrontation finally ends and you walk away do not give them a second thought. You will only be disapointed.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
