As summertime is coming to a close, classes are soon to begin. This upcoming fall semester will be the beginning of my sophomore year.

Freshmen year was quite difficult for me. With the broken heart, losing friends, and being lost I did not know how to handle life. Once I found my Big, everything turned around for me. She held my hand when I needed, but also gave me a good smack on the head when I needed to pull it together. If it wasn't for her, my college experience would have went to crap.

Now, I have moved out and am living with my two roommates. I pay bills, and work my life away through out this past summer. With Freshman year behind me and all of the things that I have learned this past year, I can say I am excited to see what Sophomore year holds and I am predicting DCP, Sigma, and whole bunch of ice cream runs.

DCP stands for the Disney College Program. As many people in my life will tell you, Disney is my passion and my love. The first time I had learned about the DCP was my senior year of high school, and instantly dreamed of the day that I could become a student of the this amazing program. The program would bring me to knew heights, allow me to be at my favorite place in the world (Disney Parks), while meeting some of the most amazing people. I am hoping when I apply in the next couple of weeks, that I will be heading to either California or Orlando in the spring semester as a student to the DCP.

Sigma is short for Sigma Sigma Chi. Sigma is one of two social sororities on my college campus at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I pledged to Sigma the fall of my freshman year, and that was how I met my Big, my best friend in the entire world. I said earlier, she has changed my life. I never knew there was someone in the world like her. Her name is Krisha (I know right, even her name is cool). I never had thought about me being a sorority girl. But me rushing Sigma was one of the best decisions I have made in the past year. And this semester is a huge deal because I will be getting Little(s)! With the way Krisha has helped me, I hope that I will be able to help out my Little in the same manner.

And of course late night ice cream runs are a must for me. Ice cream is my favorite dessert and always makes me feel better about life. Whenever I am stressed, Krisha and I either go to Braum's or go over to the local Walmart and get gallon. Normally, whenever there is ice cream means Hercules is soon to follow. Hercules is one of our favorite Disney movies. We know every word and sing along with the Muses.

Sophomore year is nerve raking because I am a year closer to being a true adult and having a profession that I worked hard for. I am excited for the mistakes, learning, and memories I'll make this year.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
