DC vs D.C.

The comics powerhouse or our nation's capital?

Oftentimes people approach me in the streets and ask me several questions. One of the questions I am most frequently asked by passersby is "Which of the following two options makes for a more enjoyable time: DC Comics, or Washington D.C.?"

On one hand, DC has characters with rich, fleshed out backstories that can make you empathize with them. Washington D.C. has characters that are rich and have repetitive, unoriginal backstories and little empathy. Most politicians can't hold a candle to the likes of Oliver Queen, Bruce Wayne, or Barry Allen.

On the other other hand, America's capital is a relatively nice place. With all the madness that happens in Gotham City, Central City, National City, and the various other DC Comics locales, it's easy to feel safe in a place that doesn't have "City" in its name.

Besides, D.C. offers a lot more to do than the DC universe. With White House tours, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Library of Congress, you won't be bored for days! Sure, you wouldn't be bored in the comics either, but that's because you'd likely be too busy running for your life from terrifying villains.

So which one is better? They both have their pros and cons, but ultimately, I'll call it a draw. You be the tiebreaker.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.
