Counting Down The Days Until Fall

My favorite season

Counting Down The Days Until Fall

Summer has ended and now my favorite season awaits: Autumn. On September 22nd the beauty begins but why does it seem so inviting? Is it the serenity in nature? The sight of watching crisped leaves flutter to the ground, along with the fresh smell of apples growing on the trees, and the decision of choosing either red, green, or yellow, to taste the crunchy, juicy, sweet, flavor. While at the farm, you experience the temptation of indulging in an apple cider donut, sipping on the similar flavor of hot apple cider to keep you warm, getting lost in a corn maze, and picking the perfect pumpkin.

The understanding of autumn's qualities is repeating through your mind. In this season, the smell of food is different, everything is orange and red, the scent in the air absorbs pumpkin, squash, and cinnamon, it taste so sweet and delicate, and can spread throughout the house on Thanksgiving morning.

On a cozy autumn night, you and your family sit outside beating the cool breeze with the toasty, crackling fire, wrapped in a blanket, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores, while reading a relaxing book.

During the day, the air is cold but bearable. Fortunately, you have the enjoyment of opening your closet to see your favorite sweaters, jeans, leg warmers, and boots.

Tis' the season

What is autumn without a bucket list?

1. Drink a pumpkin spiced latte- specifically from Starbucks

2. Go apple and pumpkin picking at a farm

3. Tailgate with friends at a football game

4. Bake pumpkin and apple pie along with pumpkin bread

5. Buy cinnamon, apple, and any fall scented candle

6. Dress in layers- lots of them- and leggings

7. Carve a pumpkin and bake the seeds

8. Dip apples into caramel and chocolate

9. Sip hot or cold apple cider

10. Visit a street fair with friends

11. Eat as much candy as possible on Halloween

12. Attend a Halloween party

13. Go on a hayride

14. Read by the fire

15. Stuff yourself at Thanksgiving dinner

16. Jump into the leaves

17. Watch a scary movie

18. Hike mountains

19. Devour cranberries

20. {Fall} in love with every minute of this season

"Hoodies, bonfires, cuddling, fall is here"

"Breathe in the autumn air"

"Every leaf speaks, bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree"

"Autumn is the season to find contentment, at home, by paying attention to what we already have"

"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall"

"There is something incredibly nostalgic and significant about the annual cascade of autumn leaves"

I am ready for the leaves to fall, the weather to get cooler, and the colors to get brighter, are you?

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

Who could be a better friend than your own sister?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
