My Days Of The Week Illustrated By Portlandia Characters

"I had to ask for a sick day. I'm so sick of these people" - Fred

It just so happens that the quirky TV Show "Portlandia" and its characters perfectly embody my weeks, day-by-day. Don't believe me? See for yourself:

Monday:

My Monday’s start at 7:30am. Off I go to my walking for fitness course, with a granola bar in one hand and a water bottle in the other hand. Toni and Candace from the Women & Women First bookstore are right, I don’t need to take it. Now I can avoid waking up in the early hours of the morning to walk, forget it.

Tuesday:

My Tuesday’s start at 8am, so I am tired once again. I am not joking, I look like Toni in class. I am just here to learn, I don’t have the patience for annoying people or unnecessary comments.

Wednesday:

I’m half way through the week but as the mayor of Portland did in one of his meetings, next time I think class is lame, I'm out.

Thursday:

Usually, I get my Thursday’s confused as Friday’s, which sucks but it sure isn’t as bad as Monday’s. I am just going to pretend to conquer the day like Toni and Candace.

Friday:

Thankfully it’s Friday but that means I still have to wake up at 8am and go to work but it’s okay, I’m not complaining because usually my housemates and I like to binge watch tv shows and movies on Friday nights. Whooo! We like to live on the edge.

Saturday:

The day I get to sleep in, well not really. I have an internal clock, so I end up waking up around 8am-10am. I try to keep my mornings productive. So I make time to get some homework out of the way and then later my time is free to whatever comes up.

Sunday:

This day was made for the lord and for house cleaning; or so that is how my Sunday’s were when I was kid. I go to church, eat out with friends for lunch and then go home and clean and get more work done. On some days, we will treat ourselves to ice cream, it’s becoming a weekly event and I’m totally fine with that.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
