It's the days after Thanksgiving. You know what that means? It's Black Friday and then it's Small Business Saturday and then it's Cyber Monday. People then start decorating for Christmas, getting their trees inside and decorating the exterior of their house with Christmas lights. I love celebrating Christmas just like the next person, but I feel like Thanksgiving is underrated for so many reasons. Here are the reasons why I think Thanksgiving is underrated.
1. The point of Thanksgiving is to be thankful.
2. The other main point of Thanksgiving is to eat. You only have one job. It is to eat, eat and eat leftovers.
3. Because between the turkey and mashed potatoes, Thanksgiving has the best food to offer.
4. Can we also mention pumpkin pie? Yum!
5. And after eating for hours, you are encouraged to go take naps. Who doesn't love naps?
6. If you are not a nap person, then there is always college football.
7. Unlike most holidays, you don't have to buy gifts for anyone—It's just food.
8. Best part of Thanksgiving morning is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in NYC. How cool is that?
A bucket list item of mine is to actually go.
9. Can we also talk about the hand turkey you made in elementary school?
10. Thanksgiving break? You get a whole week off of school to eat. Best holiday ever.
11. Also you can have two Thanksgivings. One with your family and one with friends called "Friendsgiving." I love it.
12. You get to come home from college and eat real food, not dining hall food. I'm grateful for that.
13. You also get your bed back, so you don't have to sleep on a twin-sized bed for a week, making me grateful for my queen-sized bed.
14. When the holiday is said and done, it is all about giving thanks and being grateful for what you have.
I don't know why people think Thanksgiving is underrated—It's the best holiday ever. For that, I am grateful.
