Working as a teacher at a daycare has been one of the hardest but best jobs I’ve ever had. You have a class full of children that rely on you and grow with you. You do so much with and for these children that sooner than you know it, it’s almost as if they’re your own. Even with doing all of the things we do and getting paid a lot less than we should, many people like to call us “babysitters.” So, here’s a list of 15 things that we are because we are early childhood educators, NOT babysitters:

1. Facilitators

We solve any and every dispute whether it’s over a piece of food on the floor or a toy truck.

2. Teachers

We literally help them learn basically everything that they’ll need to know as they get older.

3. Potty trainers

We teach them how to go on the potty and get as excited as they do when they learn.

4. Booboo kissers

We kiss all booboos... Even ones that may not exist.

5. Hype men

Our favorite word is ‘wow’ and we get excited about everything they accomplish. We even get excited about everyday things, too.

6. Waiters

We serve them all of the 800 snacks that they ask for each day and even share some of our own snacks occasionally.

7. Magicians

We make things appear out of thin air just about every day.

8. Storytellers

Some stories are told twice or maybe even 30 times.

9. Singers

Everything is a song.

10. Actors

The number of times we’ve had to act genuinely scared when the kids say “boo” or “roar” is astounding and we should all receive Oscars, if I’m being honest.

11. Friends

We’re definitely your children’s favorite people and it’s okay.

12. Hairstylists

No, their hair doesn’t look so good at the end of the day because it stayed the same since you dropped them off, it looks good because we’re constantly fixing it.

13. Comedians

Hearing your children’s laughter is what brightens our day.

14. Nose wipers

There can never be too many tissues available.

15. Giant kids

Our imaginations are far too beautiful and complex than most adults because we have to keep up with the little ones.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
