Dear ‘Friends,’
Some of you I have known since you were babies in the infant room while others have just started here but I can assure you that all of you mean the world to me. Every morning when I prepare for the day I make sure that I drink my coffee (or insert any caffeinated beverage here) to make sure that I can keep up with all of you! When I come into the room I am always greeted with hugs and hellos which make me smile because I know that I am loved by all of you. Friends, my job is not only to watch you while your parents are at work but it’s to take care of you; your happiness, your health, and your mind. It’s our job as a daycare teacher to make you feel loved, safe, comfortable and healthy all while making sure you don’t go too crazy and wild on us. You sure do keep me on our toes as well with your constant questions and constant ‘strong willed’ behaviors. The way you bring your stuffed Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer toy in during the month of July and put it in the crib so that he can “take a good nap before Christmas so he can help Santa deliver presents” to the way you ask how satellites work, and of course when you ask dreaded questions like why girls and boys are different. I love that you are so interested in science and the world around you that you ask these questions. All of your imaginations make us teachers smarter and make us think, because when you ask us about the moon satellites we look those things up and want to make sure we educate you on stuff that you are interested in. Friends, we also love when you come from the bathroom and insist that we smell your hands because you washed them (with soap!). Friends, we also love when you tell us what is going on in your lives we love hearing what you think about the cottage that you went to, the water park that had the ‘really big slide’, and all of your other adventures. We love when you build something out of Legos or blocks and tell us every little thing about your castle, zoo, forest, etc. I love when you try new foods and are so proud you almost knock your milk over in excitement that you tried it. I love when we make art projects and you tell me how much fun it was because those projects don’t just appear friends, those projects take planning and us teachers work hard to make sure they are successful. Friends, thank you for the countless pictures that you draw for us and for more constant hugs you insist on giving us throughout the day. Friends, thank you for making my day each and every day with your silliness, laughs, smiles, and comments. Friends you all really mean the world to us, teachers!
Love, Your Daycare Teacher
