6:15am

Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring!

OK, I need to get up.

*Hits snooze*

6:17am

Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring!

OK, I REALLY need to get up now or I’m going to be late.

I get up, quickly dress, brush my teeth and grab a granola bar before heading out the door.

6:30am

I punch in the code for the locker room and walk into my teammates shuffling around and attempting to be more alert. Half asleep, I eat my granola bar and dress in practice clothes for lift.

6:45am

My team makes our way up the stairs to the weight room. People from one lift platform choose the music, typically something with a fast beat and a lot of bass. We all try to get it done as fast as possible.

Just one more set of back squats, only eight squats left. I just have to do four more squats, two times.

8:00am

With lift finished, I rush down to the locker room to pull on my sweats and get back to the room where I can get breakfast and take my pre-practice nap. The idea of this nap is the only thing that gets me through 7am lift sometimes.

8:15am

TIME TO SLEEP!!!

9:00am

*Still sleeping*

9:35am

Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring!

Alright, it’s time to get up again. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.

9:40am

I’m back in the locker room. Music is blasting to get the team pumped up for practice. We all are mentally preparing ourselves for the day’s conditioning. All of us are guessing at what we are going to have to run in a few hours.

9:50am

We all walk out to practice together, wondering what the next three hours will bring. Everyone has her favorite drill that she hopes will appear on the practice plan for the day.

10:00am

*Practice begins*

10:20am

Water break! Hooray! Coach then calls out that we’re doing Yale drill and we all cheer.

12:00pm

We see our trainer make his way out to the field. I groan inwardly as I get ready to run conditioning.

12:05pm

Our trainer tells us that we are going to run 12 200-yard sprints.

That’s not too bad. That’s like running 3 200s four times and I can do anything four times.

12:20pm

*Panting and wheezing*

I need to pick it up. There are still 5 sprints left to run. I’ve already run 7 though so what are 5 more? Yeah. Let’s go. Get up to the line. Get ready. And SPRINT!!!

12:40pm

Conditioning is over! Yay! The worst part of the day is over.

The team rushes around to collect loose balls and then rushes to the locker room. We all get ready to take quick showers before running off to class with our hair dripping wet.

How is it not even 1pm yet? I feel like I have been awake forever…

12:55pm

I got here on time! That’s a win for me!

*Takes notes furiously and tries to stay awake*

I NEED CAFFEINE.

2:10pm

I have twenty minutes to grab a coffee, use the bathroom and get to my next class.

2:30pm

*Barely alert*

*Notes become more and more sloppy*

3:45pm

I’m freeeeeeee. No more classes for the day! I’m done (kinda).

4:00pm

Back in the dorm. Aaaaaand back to work.

I’m not tired. I can still get a few things done before dinner. I want to be able to watch Netflix later, so I need to finish my assignments now.

5:20pm

It’s dinner time. Half my grade meets up and we all grab something to eat. Each of us puts something semi-healthy on our plate to pretend we are eating well. Who are we kidding? We grab a plate a fries to split between us. And we all grab a cookie on the way out too.

6:00pm

Only a little more work to do. OK, a lot of work, but it won’t be that bad.

7:30pm

OK, it’s bad. I’ve hit a wall. I can’t do any more work.

*Starts next assignment*

9:00pm

NETFLIX TIME.

10:15pm

Only one more episode until I go to bed. Just one more and then I really need to sleep.

10:35pm

*Watches another episode*

11:00pm

It’s time for bed. I crawl in and shut my eyes thinking about how I have to do all this again tomorrow, but I wouldn’t want it any way else.

11:02pm

*Is fast asleep*

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

May the odds be ever in your favor.

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
