It is August. With less than a month left until the first day of classes it is time to face the facts; you do actually have to go back to school. It seems like it was just yesterday when you arrived home from taking your last final exam. You had worked hard and were ready to full your summer with Netflix, friends, and vacations. Now, as many of your friends are starting to head back to their colleges out of state and your list of TV shows you had to watch is slowly becoming shorter, you are realizing summer will be over soon. As much as you are dreading it, It is time to buy your books, get supplies, and make everything perfect for the first day back. It is going to be a long year.

1. Realizing summer is over

How did it go by so fast? You are still trying to process the reality of going back to school.

2. Looking for the perfect outfit

You do not want to try too hard but you also don't want to look like you just rolled out of bed. It is all about finding that perfect balance between the two.

3. Making your hair look just right

Of course your hair never looks how you want it too.

4. Arriving on campus ready to have a great day

You wake up early, eat a balanced breakfast, and arrive on campus with time to spare!

5. Walking into your first class and seeing people you know

No one wants to sit alone on the first day of class.

6. When your professor assigns homework on the first day

What ever happened to syllabus week? You definitely are not mentally prepared to have homework today.

7. When a cute boy walks into the classroom

You are feeling good, looking good, and secretly hoping he will sit next to you.

8. When he starts talking about his girlfriend

It's okay, he wasn't really that cute anyway.

9. Realizing all of the classes you picked are going to be super hard

Why did you do this to yourself?

10. Listening to people talk about their summer

Just smile and nod.

11. When you need a book right away but the bookstore wants to charge you double the price the book costs on Amazon

Who has time to wait for three day shipping?

12. Trying to come up with interesting things to say about yourself to new people

Making new friends is hard, but small talk is harder.

13. Sitting in class wondering when you can go eat lunch

Learning makes you starving. As long as it's food, you'll eat it.

14. When you can finally go home

You've had a long day. It's time to relax.

15. Knowing you have to do it all again tomorrow

Summer seems like a distant dream and you're counting down the days until winter break.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
