I Am The Daughter Of The King

You see, my Dad is awesome. There is something very special about Him. He is the king of all kings. Yes, this means that I am a princess. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am the daughter of a king. It just makes me feel good on the inside.

Have you heard this saying, “He’s got the whole world in His hands. Red, yellow, black and white we are precious in His sight?" Well this is talking about my Father. My Dad created the Heavens and the Earth. Every animal, tree and sunset are all examples of the artistic talent He has. Daddy even created humans. You and me, His children.

My Dad has 10 rules. They seemed like easy rules when I first heard them, but now they are a little bit more difficult to follow each day. I probably break at least one rule each day. I try really hard to follow them and obey my Father, but I fall short. One of the great things about my Dad is His forgiving heart. I have seen my Father forgive people who thought they were out of reach for forgiveness. My Father loves me still and encourages me to do better. Sometimes, He even places scenarios in front of me to help me practice making the right decisions. I am so thankful for Dad’s forgiving heart.

Sometimes people get mad at my Dad. Honestly, sometimes I even get mad at Him. I cannot speak for the others who get mad at my Dad but let me tell you about my experience. There have been a few times that Dad has me walk through a rough patch. I do not understand why He does things like that, but somehow He always makes it a learning experience. For example, most of the time I learn to Trust Him, easier said than done, let me just tell you that right now. When I reflect on those hard times, in my life, I realize that Dad knew what He was doing all along- even when I thought He had fallen off His rocker!

One thing my Dad seems to say over and over is to Trust Him. Who would have trouble trusting their own Father? It is always hard to trust Him in the beginning, but as soon as I give Him all my trust, He sees to it that everything will be just fine. He takes care of me. He makes sure I am safe and He makes sure I know that I am loved. The only thing He asks of me is to trust Him.

Dad wears a lot of hats. He is a Physician. He is a Teacher. He is a Counselor. He is a Caretaker. He is a Provider. He is a Lover. He is my Dad and I stand in awe of Him. I am so proud of the Man He is.

My Dad is the best Dad out there. He compliments me, He makes me laugh, He holds me, He holds my hand, He gives me advice, He encourages me and He loves me. He tells me to come to Him with my doubts and worries. He tells me to come to Him when I have exciting news. My Daddy is always there when I need Him. The only thing He asks me to do is, to let Him into my heart and to trust Him.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
